Mellow Yellow on 3rd Avenue
Here’s a new development at 533 3rd Avenue, at 13th Street. It certainly adds a little color to that stretch of 3rd, but what really surprised us was that the New Building Permit is for “Residential (Hotels).” We know hotels in Brooklyn are really popular right now, but this hardly looks the part. It certainly adds a little color to that stretch of 3rd, but what really surprised us was that the New Building Permit is for “Residential (Hotels).” We know hotels in Brooklyn are really popular right now, but this hardly looks the part. The zoning is listed as M-1-2, so maybe the hotel shctick was just a back-door to building housing in a manufacturing district. GMAP DOB P*Shark
This is an extremely ugly building. These builders need to go to some sort of design school, because every design that coming out these days is ugly.
Do we really need a hotel here??????
looks like The Hassid Inn
It’s in front of a major 2 way street and gas station, don’t know why anyone would want a hotel here if that’s the case. There is nothing around there except a couple of bars and will require some walking to get to central slope.
I believe it is going to be a La Quinta Inn with 73 rooms.
I passed by the building maybe 2 weeks, and they were putting beds in there. If it were apartments, they wouldn’t have done so.
It’s a butt-ugly building, IMHO.
yeah i read somewhere that the city pays up to 3000 dollars a MONTH per homeless person if a builing is willing to be zoned as supportive housing. so essentially the city pays landlords 3000 bux to house someone in something that can be as small as a studio. it’s the same thing with section 8. the government pays a pretty hefty sum to landlords, sometimes MORE than what is the market rate of the apartment, so what is a lanrlord gonna do? they will take the section 8 rent versus what they can get market rate. so much wasted money goes to unappreciative people in this city it’s absurd.

is a residential hotel more of a long-term stay sort of place? If the owner is politically connected, there are plenty of ways to provide shelter needs and bill the city.
Looks better than The Standard
‘they call me mellow yellow’
short stay scene methinks?
Lowe’s beats Home Depot…..
