This one’s on the North side of the park. Though you can’t tell from this photo, the tall building on the left could end up having some nice spaces in it.

  1. If its being built by “Superior Construction” (an ironic title) it will be cheaply made. Not only that, you’ll end up spending the next year making right all the screw ups the builders leave you with. I know, they built our place on 171 N7th Street. They are a joke.

  2. The building is 297 DRIGGS AVENUE. You can view floorplans and illustrated facade sections on http://scaranoarchitects.com (select PROJECTS, then MULTIFAMILY/RESIDENTIAL and look for this building).
There will be 10 garage spaces, very attractive considering the number of new developments now ringing the park (there’s even a smaller new building being constructed just north of 297 Driggs). It’s also less than 2 blocks from the Nassau G train stop, a big plus considering how far newer developments planned for the Greenpoint’s riverside will be from its 2 subway stations. I’ve been watching this development; the construction finally seems to be progressing after months of inactivity. It’s hard to tell how the final bldg will match the architects vision. The construction looks a bit cheap, but let’s see how it finishes itself before passing a verdict. The views will be impressive though as the building faces faces west over McCarren Park with unobstructed views of the city (and Williamsburg/Greenpoint’s quickly changing skyline). Development marketing company had previously been listed on Scarano’s site to be The Developers Group (groan), but that info has been deleted, so it remains to be seen who will market the bldg closer to completion. Expect 1BR to range over half a million, considering just around the corner is the McCarren (http://thedevelopersgroup.com/buildings/building.aspx?buildingid=1033&) , a dismal project with a horrible facade, no garage and not-as-glamourous=skyline views from it’s overpriced spaces.

  3. this builing can only end up being horrible. It’s about 4 floors taller than just about everything else in the neighborhood and watching it go up every day, I was surprised it never collapsed during construction. Is there a restriction in Greenpoint on how many floors a building can have? There should be. Oh, and this place is right across from Enids.
