For as long as we’ve lived on Grand Avenue in Clinton Hill, the old one-story structure at the corner of Lexington Avenue has sat in disrepair, calling out for some love. We’d always hoped someone would rehab the building and put some interesting retail or restaurant in. Now that seems unlikely. The building at 1 Lexington, along with two buildings across the street (Numbers 6 and 16 Lexington Avenue), has been put on the market by the owner. From what we gather, the asking price is $8 million; according to Property Shark, a developer could put up just shy of 70,000 square feet of residential space. All we can say is we hope the buyer has better taste the the developer who put up the two rental buildings next door on Grand Avenue (one here and the other here) in the last few years. This block of Lexington is really special–it would really be a shame to throw up a couple of tasteless eyesores. GMAP
