The basement isn’t even built yet, but the folks developing the large site at 309-321 2nd Street have already picked a name and marketing campaign. Here’s what we know: The residential development will be called The Heritage at Park Slope and consist of 21 one- and two-bedroom units. The Karl Fischer-designed building will be four stories high for a total of 24,000 square feet; no renderings yet on the architect’s web site. What’s interesting is that it appears that the developers are actually the same people who owned the old tile company that used to inhabit the two-story warehouse structure that used to be here. Has PRD Realty/ Bergen tile built other residential developments?
Permit for this building indicates renovation and increase in height to an “existing” building. This is new construction, contrary to permit. DOB has been notified. The owner, Bergen Tile, has already been cited for violations.
Ah, seems they couldn’t get the 4th Ave wrap around they wanted so the whole shebang could be 12 stories.
Then they’d go from “Heritage” to “Pristine,” no?
who cares. It’s his site. Next. . . .
The thing is, Brownstoner tends to intervene mostly when it’s himself being criticized.
Seems like trying to have it both ways. Is the site a labor of love, which you’re running as an avocation and thus have a right to expect support and gratitude from all your readers for your selfless efforts? Or is it a business and a journalistic publication, in which case you should be open to criticism (even ugly criticism) like members of the press are?

When did they stop naming buildings after women? Sunset park has a bunch. “The Edna” or “The Sally” would be better. Less pretentious.
i noticed that too. perhaps he was afraid he’d really end up in the east river. but more seriously, i think it has to do with finding his footing regarding editorial integrity. when does trying to be funny cross into just being crass and how does he want brownstoner’s voice to be understood by its visitors? it’s one thing to have your users make ridiculous comments; quite another to join the fray from an editorial perspective.
i’m SHOCKED and quite disturbed that the post on the house in dyker heights was removed because brownstoner didn’t like the comments being made about his commentary.
