The benefit to saving those facades is…. what? There’s nothing original there.
I was jogging by last week and saw inside the construction fence and saw the northernmost one was getting a new foundation, at least in the front.
Minard, nowhere in the OP did it say they were being torn down. In fact, it said the contrary.
benson, do my eyes deceive or are you directing your snark at vernacular architecture??? 🙂
Seriously, I remember the previous Russo thread. Some people really did defend the idea of preserving these (historical view from the F, or something like that), although jury is out in my mind as to whether Mr. B was being facetious that time. Nice to see Emily calling it like it is.
Russo passed away
Minard;
They had aluminum siding in 1840!! Who knew??
What is the style called? Neo Bil-Ray or the Late Reynolds Period?
This calls for a write-up.
Tough to see from this shot but judging by the bowing on the roofs they’re falling down on their own.
It is not a good sign when a supposedly progressive city in the year 2010 tears down an entire row of 1840’s houses.
I know the location is the pits, but it is sad nonetheless.
I see some great salvage finds.
