There hasn’t been a whole lot of action to report on at the site of 571 Carroll—and 18-unit project between 4th an 5th avenues—for a while now, but construction has lately kicked into high gear. A rendering of what the finished product is supposed to look like is on the jump, as is part of a sign the developer put on the outside of the site many months ago in response to complaints of construction noise. In fact, a perusal of complaints to the DOB shows that this is probably not the most popular building site on the block: There are several complaints, including an active one, alleging “work contrary to approved plans.” GMAP DOB
does anyone know who the architect/designer is?
HOW RUDE!!!
WOW!!!!!!!!
thanks for noticing the great new building. although you have taken the time to visit the D.O.B. web site your report is all assumption and not fact. you should report all the facts. every complaint was investigated and found to be invalid. no violations have been
issued other than a issue with 2nd floor balconies. why the city does not like balconies
at the second floor still does not make sense however we have come to a compromise and
will be in full compliance with the city code. the complaints you report of are border line harassment and the work of an idle unproductive person. they need to let new york be new york. new york is a city of constant transformation building has always been at the center of that change. they say change is good but they want it to be change they want, the way
they want. anything else bothers the hell out of them. as for the site being unpopular
you should have asked the residents of the block. instead you just assume it is unpopular.
report the facts if you feel yourself a reporter. i hope the brownstoner reporter will take the time to revisit the block and give us the facts. we are hoping to add a great new building to a block that has more character than the finest streets of manhattan.
carroll street is rich with both old and new residents. we respect them all and hope to
make them all proud of the new building we are working so hard to complete safetly
and efficiently.. we want to thank all the residents on the block for their patients and understanding. we really hope to finish soon. As for the spot in antartica, we will even pay for the plane ticket, if the person who keeps complaining really hates new york.
i am familiar with this block as well as some of the people on it. i am sure that a careful reading of the complaints will lead a reasonable person to know who the complaining party is.
good sign though. i like it.
