Development Watch: 15 Roebling
Here’s a recent view of 15 Roebling Street, alias 227 North 10th Street. First filed in May 2007, the plan calls for a six-story, 66-foot, ten-unit residential building. Since the site is on one of the more barren-feeling blocks of Williamsburg, the building doesn’t have much context to blend into. GMAP P*Shark DOB

The foreman of the job told me it’s going to be rentals now. And it’s easy to get things done quickly when you work well into the nights and on weekends.
I live one block away.
It is surprising how quickly they are working on this, at least in the last 2-3 months of progress. Also, considering how it is next door to the now foreclosed-project ‘warehouse 11’, it is surprising they are moving forward with construction. Presumably they have their financing on good terms, or construction is a heck of a lot cheaper now.
Doesn’t look too bad, but the new balconies they just put up, the kind that aren’t really balconies, but really 6 inch red steel barriers that you can’t step out on are really really terrible. I would never buy a place that SEEMS to have a balcony, but doesn’t actually have one you can take a chair and a newspaper to.
