building
In case you haven’t noticed, 16th Street in the South Slope is one giant construction project. This particular new-build appears to have meant the end of some charming old houses, judging by the photo on Property Shark. Gotta say, given all the construction, it must kinda suck to live on this block these days. GMAP

  1. Take it from someone with experience with this developer, DO NOT BUY FROM THEM. The work is shoddy. Try asking anyone who has bought from them and you will only hear tales of trouble. Bad architect, bad GC, unskilled labor, and cheap short cuts.

  2. To answer your question, Mr. B.
    Yes, it does suck.
16th street was hung out to dry by Every City official, along with the DOB and Bloombag. They were all made aware of all the illegal activity and chose to look the other way. The effects to the Community will be long lasting and expensive. There was no consideration given to effects of the over development. Not for Sanitation, Sewage, Utilities, Traffic, Parking and most of all, the residents of the Community. Furthermore everyone else’s taxes (Thanks you 421a) and insurance are going up to facilitate these illegal Developments. Now the same Vultures have there eye’s on 4th Ave, thanks to another of our Cities great “Compromises” with the Real Estate Developers. After that, they will look to destroy the waterfront. That’s if it doesn’t all end up in the Gowanus. God forbid every one in all the New Developments up 16th street decides to flush there toilets at the same time. Everything from the middle of 16th, between 4th and 5th, will end up washed into the Gowanus.
But according to the Developers and our City Officials “It’s all good”
    For Who?

  3. Same developer, wolf in sheep’s clothing, that is doing 6th on 6th (639 6th Ave) that was a property that was lost at the BSA (proved financial hardship, yeah right. With this baby on 16th St. and the Slate condos in Chelsea, he’s really hurting) over the summer.

The ONLY upside to this POS, is that he finally fired the ass-backwards and POS GC he was using for the first part of the project.

The developer is finally working with community residents on 16th St. to undo the damage and bad PR of 2 + years. Hopefully they will continue, with what is totally out of context for the block (and yes Mr. B, at the loss of decent housing stock), in a safe and legal fashion…and that Mr. Angel (and the Angel Dev. Group/The Developers Group) will get the fuck out of the ‘nabe and finish up with his 2 development sites PDQ.

Gee, do I seem a bit pissed off?
