Development Watch: At Verdi, All That Glitters Ain't Gold
We never had particularly high hopes for the Verdi, a seven-unit condo at 82 Adelphi Street, but we don’t even know what to make of how it’s turning out. It’s a mix of generic-looking brick and an over-the-top swaths of blue mosaic tile. Huh? To make matters worse, the two horizontal silos on the top…

It’s a mix of generic-looking brick and an over-the-top swaths of blue mosaic tile. Huh? To make matters worse, the two horizontal silos on the top floor are just plain strange. Remarkably, Corcoran’s showing that two of the units are already in contract, one them at about $600 a foot, the other for well north of that. Who’s paying that kind of dough for this odd-ball design on one of Fort Greene’s less scenic blocks?

New Development: Verdi on Adelphi [Brownstoner]
AY is about 15 blocks away! It will have no role. Just because it says Ft. Greene, does not mean it will be affected by AY.
Another disgusting Kara listing!
BTW, this website is toast once they build Atlantic Yards. Buh bye
😉
To 10:41 PM – many of the buildings discussed in Brownstoner will be negatively affected (pricewise) by AY, but I think you are exaggerating a bit with this one.
kara and this building will be worth squat once AY is built.
What an insult to a great composer. And Verdi means “green,” to boot. Wishful thinking…
I like mosaic, too– but this building is weirddddd. Still, I wish ’em well. The block could use some more new builds. Maybe even non-weird ones.
I think tons of people would love to live in a stainless steel silo. You build it and they will buy. In sixty years it will be a wondefully evocative monument to those sad, wondeful, and funky two-thousand-o’s.
It’s the ugliest disco ball building ever. It gets worse by the day…
