Development Update at Smith and State
Transfer’s got another update on the excavation at the Corner of Smith and State. This dig is going on across the street from the 14 Townhouses project we (surprisingly) like so much. Booms on State St II [Transfer]

this building went through a bunch of design changes, including the complete disposal of the original design in favor of the current meltzer/mandl one. that took a long time
i live on the block, and this damned site has been “under construction” for YEARS now. COngratulations to them on taking that time to, so far, dig a big hole. Unbelievable slow.
ETA, this is what I read on The Real Deal, currently online:
“Downtown Brooklyn
The Smith
Corner of Atlantic Avenue and Smith Street
The 13-floor building by Boymelgreen Developers will house 50 residential condos and a 93-room hotel. The residences, a mix of one-, two- and three-bedrooms, will range in size from 740 to 1,400 square feet. Prices are still being determined, but are expected to fall in the $700 per square-foot range, according to published reports. The building, which will have a red-brick facade with terraces for the top penthouse units, is expected to open in June 2006. Sales will begin this summer.”
Yep – I live right there too and it’s looked like that for weeks now. They just reported on the Real Deal that sales supposedly begin this summer. Curious to see if it happens….
Is this project going ever so slowly – or just my imagination?
