Candace Carponter, the real estate lawyer who headed up the legal team for community group Develop Don’t Destroy Brooklyn, said the process had made her cynical. Would she ever go to the arena? “Never,” she said. “I will always hate it. I will always know what it stands for — everything that’s wrong about government.”

  1. that’s what they used to sell the deal to the public. visions of grandeur and a piece of the pie. the deal is done, anything that is done going forward will be highly modified and justified economically on a stand-alone basis. there is no santa claus.
