As of this weekend 4th Avenue between Atlantic and Flatbush was turned into a one-way, southbound road, and NY1 reports that switch has already snarled traffic: “The idea was to reduce traffic tie-ups, but residents said Monday that it’s making the problem worse.” The change follows Pacific Street between 4th Avenue and Flatbush being switched from a westbound to eastbound street. Both are part of the first round of traffic-pattern changes planned near the arena. According to the ESDC’s traffic mitigation plan, between now and next spring a bunch of new medians, median extensions and curb extensions are going to be built out on Atlantic Avenue between Carlton Avenue and South Oxford Street. The Carlton Avenue Bridge, meanwhile, isn’t scheduled to re-open until next summer.
