The once-controversial development at 2nd Place and Smith Street appears to be about to hit the market. There’s a placeholder website for 360 Smith saying it’s opening in the spring. The site doesn’t explicitly say whether it’ll be a rental or a condo, though the use of the word “apartment” indicates the former. It also seems like the handle it was going to go by a couple years ago, “Oliver House,” is dead and buried. Gershon & Co., the developer that purchased the property from Billy Stein a couple years ago, didn’t return a call for clarification.

  1. How has no one mentioned yet what an eyesore this building is? It looks like two totally different buildings smashed together – one has almost floor to ceiling windows and is black (is that part going to get covered in red brick? I hope so) and the other has normal windows and is red. Also the two parts don’t even fit together – they’re at a weird angle. Whose awful design was this? It kills me.

  2. I’m talking your run of the mill Associate/Key/Met type of grocery stores. Regardless of the prices of this building it would still be nicer to have your standard grocery store down at that end of of the hood. Union Market is still a few blocks away up on Court so if it’s any closer than Met it’s by two blocks at most.

  3. Yes, true but I’m guessing these places are going to rent or sell at a premium. People moving here will have the $$ for Union Market. You can actually do quite well there, if you know what to buy.

  4. Whether it’s rental or condo, I suspect they’ll fill up without too much trouble. The only downside to this end of the neighborhood is there’s no grocery store down there.
