A reader sent us this photo he snapped two nights ago of 333 Carroll, the condo conversion that’s been notable for the towering hunk of steel attached to the top of an old warehouse. (GL, which call the structure the “Hell Building,” got the same scoop.) There’s been no progress on the building for many months, though some locals have claimed workers flouted the stop-work order on the property. While we don’t know why all the lights were on in the building a couple of nights ago, maybe someone was celebrating the new permit issued by the DOB for the building on Tuesday. Robert Scarano was the old architect of record on the project, but the new permit points to a firm called Wesolowski Bashir & Associates. No word on whether the rooftop addition is there to stay; the paperwork only notes that a crew is going to install a new sidewalk shed “for remedial repairs.”
Update: Pardon Me For Asking reports that daytime work at 333 has restarted and “Carroll Gardeners still don’t know what exactly will happen at 333 Carroll Street. The community has been outraged by the height added to the former manufacturing building being converted into condos.”
