25-Washington-Street-0909.jpgThere were some rumors last month 25 Washington Street, the 87,000-square-foot commercial building next to the Manhattan Bridge in Dumbo, was going to be converted to rental apartments and now there’s confirmation: The Brooklyn Paper reported yesterday that tenants, many of whom are artists who’ve been in the neighborhood for many years, have received notice from the owner, Two Trees Management, that they will have to move out when their current leases expire. The move has created a backlash among current occupants as well as the Dumbo Neighborhood Association but a spokesperson for Two Trees says the conversion has long been in the cards and that tenants have known about the date of their lease expirations for years. 1. “BK Papers story a bit senstational.” Aren’t they all?

Isn’t there a tenant who controls multiple floors and sub-leases space? If so, that may have led to some of them being out of the loop.

  2. This has been in the works, common knowledge and well-communicated for literally Years. Snore.

There are few if any artists in the building. BK Papers story a bit senstational. Maybe a couple in the shared office space suites on two floors. top floor tenant moved out. AHRC has much space in lower floors and they are onto to space elsewhere in boro as they have been noticed years ago.
