Saturday marked the third and final Saturday of the 2012 Williamsburg Walks season. For the fifth year in a row, Bedford Avenue shut down to car traffic between Metropolitan Avenue and North 12th Streets. If the photos don’t look that exciting (the defining features were patches of sod activated by neighborhood groups, businesses and performers), that’s kinda the point. It’s not supposed to be a street festival. According to NAG, the organizing entity, “The idea is for people to use the closure to cars in order to rethink their public space and to offer a space to celebrate the neighborhood.”
