Jacques Torres Now Serving Ice Cream
“Jacques Torres, the chocolatier, is now making ice cream and selling it in the form of sandwiches layered with homemade chocolate-chip cookies ($5), in chocolate-dipped cones ($4) and in triple-scoop sundaes ($6), with a choice of sauces and set into bowls of dark chocolate, including an oval one that looks like a cacao pod… You can also buy a scoop of ice cream with espresso poured over it, for a quick affogato ($3).” [NY Times]
Habana Outpost
“My great, no-nonsense grilled pork chop special ($13) came with a delicious mound of tomato confettied guac, yellow rice, and black beans into which I accidentally poured half a cup of TapatÃo. Their dry-barbecued corn on a stick with mayo, cotija cheese, chili and lime is quintessential.” [Eat Drink One Woman]
Only $5 to Spend in South Brooklyn…
“Where would you head? What would you eat?” [Chowhound]
After the jump: Brennan and Carr, Di Fara’s, and the Farm on Adderley
Brennan and Carr
“If you can’t deal with a bun that is soaked through, don’t go to Brennan and Carr. If you think meat that is steamed until it turns grey is gross, don’t go to Brennan and Carr. But if you want a classic Brooklyn roast beef sandwich, this is your place.” [Gothamist]
Di Fara’s
“The pizza is otherworldly, and unlike other pies, it’s not one ingredient that makes it good–it’s the combination of many good ingredients. The building blocks are fresh dough and a light but flavorful tomato sauce made in the back from canned San Marzano tomatoes.” [A Brooklyn Life]
The Farm on Adderley
“This new Brooklyn spot gives a countrified touch to American dishes like chicken-in-the-hay (chicken roasted on a bed of grains): 1108 Cortelyou Road (Westminster Street), Ditmas Park, Brooklyn; (718) 287-3101.” [NY Times]
