Dumbo Art Under the Bridge Festival
This weekend Dumbo will be transformed into a neighborhood-wide art show, with galleries, studios, and storefronts devoted to art-related happenings; even neighborhood landmarks and fixtures will be transformed into temporary art projects. This is the 13th year that the festival has taken place in Dumbo; you can see a slide show of last year’s event here. The festival kicks off this morning and runs through Sunday, which means you could combine an art walk with a visit to The Flea on Sunday. For more information check out the festival’s website.
Greenpoint Open Studios
Artist studios, bands, and afterparties in Greenpoint!!! There will be video screenings and dance performances, as well. All are welcome to enjoy this weekend’s three day open studio event. Friday – Sunday, September 25 – 27. Use link above for scheduled times and events.
Brooklyn Flea
The Brooklyn Flea takes place in Ft. Greene on Saturday and its historic Brooklyn Bridge location on Sunday. Both locations feature a great mix of vintage, antiques, jewelry, and food. Saturday, September 26. 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School, Lafayette Avenue between Clermont and Vanderbilt Avenues. Sunday, September 27. 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. In Dumbo, underneath the Brooklyn Bridge at the corner of Water and New Dock Street.

Showpaper Benefit
This benefit will immerse its audience in a multimedia blend of art, music and film. The artwork is by Gibby Hanes of the Butthole Surfers, Charlotte Kidd and Rebecca Schiffman and there will be musical performances by The Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players and several other bands. “The Tempest” at Coney Island
Brave New World Repertory will feature a dozen of their actors in a production of William Shakespeare’s, “The Tempest”. If you’d like, you can donate to help out the Brave New World Repertory Theatre Company. Your contributions will help with the tremendous costs of staging free productions and make it possible for the company to plan future performances of this scale. Saturday & Sunday, September 27 & 28. 3 p.m. FREE. Near 10th Street (by the NY Aquarium), The Boardwalk.
“Green-Wood at Night” Tour
Bring a flashlight and take a tour of the historic Green-Wood Cemetery. This walk features live accordion music, a visit inside the Catacombs, and the light (weather permitting) of the Moon. Saturday, September 26. 6:30 p.m. $20 or $10 (for Historic Fund Members). Inside the main entrance at 25th Street at 5th Avenue.
Museum Day 2009
The Smithsonian presents Museum Day, a nationwide event where people can enjoy museums for free this Saturday. There are several museums that will be participating for this event. Will you be? The 5th Annual Last Supper Festival
An artistic feast for the senses that brings together over 50 short films, works of art, writings, culinary creations, edible installations, and up-and-coming bands & DJs to celebrate the autumn harvest and discuss consumption. Created & curated by artist and architect Coralina Meyer, The Last Supper kindles the creative miasma infused by community interaction, and harvests the cornucopia of media in our own backyard. 14th Annual Walk for Hope Fundraiser
All proceeds will fund and support programs for the terminally ill and their caregivers, in cooperation with Calvary Hospital’s Brooklyn Campus housed in Lutheran Medical Center. The registration fee for adults is $20 and $10 for children. A complimentary buffet will be provided for the participants of the walk by Nora’s Park Bench Cafe. Sunday, September 27. Regristration at 10 a.m. Walk at 11 a.m. Fillmore Avenue & Marine Parkway, Marine Park.
