Target Free Friday Family Jams
Enjoy the last Target Free Friday Family Jams with a Caribbean style grand finale. Children of all ages can watch some movies, Pete’s Pizza and Doctor De Soto, and afterward partake with Something Positive, a cultural dance group specializing in Afro-Caribbean music and rhythms. Kids present at the event can sign up for a free costume courtesy of Sesame Flyers International. Friday, August 28. 5 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Brooklyn Children’s Museum.
BID Blood Drive

Brooklyn Flea
The Brooklyn Flea takes place in Ft. Greene on Saturday and its historic Brooklyn Bridge location on Sunday. Both locations feature a great mix of vintage, antiques, jewelry, and food. Saturday, August 29. 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School, Lafayette Avenue between Clermont and Vanderbilt Avenues. Sunday, August 30. 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. In Dumbo, underneath the Brooklyn Bridge at the corner of Water and New Dock Street.

Hapa Kitchen Luau + Pig Roast

Domestic Labor Dinner + Dance Hoedown
The Last Supper presents an event aimed to please local artists, local produce lovers, and locals alike. Come and enjoy food prepared by Lila Dobbs, of Brooklyn Sour while discussing labor, value, and alternative economies of means (the theme of the dinner). There will be WPA films about rationing, victory gardens, domesticity and labor throughout the dinner. After the feast, there will be live music from Ian Beck, Dorie Colangelo, and DJ Selector Honeyknuckles. Saturday, August 29. Michael Jackson Block Party
In commemoration of Michael Jackson’s 51st birthday, Spike Lee is hosting a day dedicated to the King of Pop. DJ Spinna will be there playing all of Michael’s musical accomplishments. The block party will end with the Brooklyn borough president declaring August 29th as “Michael Jackson Day”. Saturday, August 29. 12 p.m. – 5 p.m. Prospect Park.
33rd Annual Brighton Jubilee
The Brighton Neighborhood Association will sponsor its 33rd Annual Brighton Jubilee. There will be live music and entertainment on several stages, including Bay Ridge’s own Frankie Marra & his band, onstage at Brighton 14th Street. Battle of Brooklyn Day
As part of the Brooklyn Battle Week, The Green-Wood Historic Fund presents a day filled with trolley tours, commemoration ceremonies, and a re-enactment of the Battle of Brooklyn. All are welcome to attend. Sunday, August 30. 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. 500 25th Street, Greenwood Cemetery.
