Rock the Block BK 2009
Rock the Block BK, an urban arts and culture series developed to bring awareness to Brooklyn’s underground urban arts renaissance, serves as Brooklyn’s pre-eminent showcase of emerging artistic talent in Brooklyn and the five boroughs of New York City. This event features several artists using different mediums. There will be live music, fashion, art, and much more. Saturday, August 15. 12 p.m. – 3 a.m. The Dumbo Loft (155 Water Street), Rebar (147 Front Street), and The Marketplace (143 Front Street).
7th Annual Diabetes Walk
This year’s diabetes walk is supported by the New York State Diabetes Prevention and Control Program. Join others for a good cause and enjoy free health screenings, raffles, snacks, and entertainment. Saturday, August 15. 9:45 a.m. – 2 p.m. Prospect Park (Bartel Lot @ 15th Street).
Brooklyn Flea
The Brooklyn Flea takes place in Ft. Greene on Saturday and its historic Brooklyn Bridge location on Sunday. Both locations feature a great mix of vintage, antiques, jewelry, and food. Saturday, August 15. 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School, Lafayette Avenue between Clermont and Vanderbilt Avenues. Sunday, August 16. 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. In Dumbo, underneath the Brooklyn Bridge at the corner of Water and New Dock Street.

If you havn’t already visited the Water Pod, now is your chance to stop by and get some gardening tips as well. Come and garden at the Water Pod with Carissa Carman and Logan Smith, the Waterpodâ„¢ Living Systems Designers. Additional special guests will be there to give ideas on gardening.
