This Sunday, July 22, Miss Heather of New York Shitty hosts the next Brooklyn Blogade Roadshow in Greenpoint. A $10 fee goes to Casa Mon Amour, which is usually closed on Sundays, and gets you tasty Dominican food as well. Anyone can attend, Brooklyn blogger or not. “Contextual” Reception
Starting today, July 20, Ch’i Contemporary Fine Art Gallery presents “Contextual,” a group exhibition featuring works by Marc Brotherton, Peter Calvin, Michel Demanche, Steven Dobbin, Hee Sook Kim, Wanda Taylor Remington and others. Brooklyn Ballet
Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy presents Brooklyn Ballet’s “Take Ballet to the Streets,” which features a convergence of cultures and styles. Hal Willner’s Doc Pomus Project
On Saturday, July 21, Celebrate Brooklyn! At Prospect Park Bandshell presents Hal Willner’s Doc Pomus Project, celebrating the words and music of the late Williamsburg-born songwriter Doc Pomus. The featured artists include Lou Reed, Ben E. King, Howard Tate, Shannon McNally, Mocean Worker, Eric Mingus, Joel Dorn, Peter Guralnick, Robin Holcomb and more. Be-Cool Air Conditioner Turn-In
This Saturday, July 21, CENYC’s Office of Recycling Outreach and Education partners with NYSERDA for an air conditioner turn-in event at McCarren Park. Each individual who donates an inefficient unit will receive a rebate of either $35 or $100 to purchase a new Energy Star model air conditioner. Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. McCarren Park.

Bushwick Walking Tour
On Saturday, join “Bushwick, Part 2,” a free walking tour that will focus on central and southern Bushwick, complementing the exhibition “Up From Flames: Mapping the Recovery of Bushwick 1977-2007.” Led by Adam J. Schwartz and historian John A. Dereszewski, the tour will explore Bushwick’s central core that was devastated by fire in the 1970s. Meet at the Myrtle-Wyckoff L Station, at the corner of Gates and Myrtle, at 1:00 p.m. Tour will end at the Wilson Avenue L train station at 3:00 p.m.

Grand Avenue Charity Block Party
This Sunday, check out the block party on Grand Avenue, which is raising money for the family of Jessica Moreno, whose father is undergoing bone marrow transplant surgery. Sponsored by Choice and The Grand Dakar, the event will feature live music, dance performances, poetry, and food. Sunday, 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Lafayette and Grand Avenue.

  1. The first event has a name that doesn’t make you want to go especially if there is food. What a turn off.

    Also, why does everyone spell out their email address instead of using the @ symbol. Spammers?
