Easter Celebration at Greenpoint Refined Church
There are some fabulous Easter festivities lined up this Sunday, April 8, at the Greenpoint Reformed Church. The day starts with an 11am Easter service, followed by a pot-luck brunch featuring a live jazz band. For kids, there’ll be an egg hunt, a puppet show by North Brooklyn’s own Puppetsburg, and lots of arts and crafts projects. Grownups can print their own baseball cards on the church’s letterpress (thanks to artist Amelie Mancini and printer Earl Kallemeyn), enter the Easter dessert contest, and enjoy some time with family and friends. The Greenpoint Reformed Church is located at 136 Milton Street in Brooklyn, just a block from the Greenpoint Avenue stop on the G train.

Being Shakespeare at BAM
An aging Lear, disintegrating with his kingdom. A cryptic Ophelia, driven mad by madness. Hamlet, hell-bent on revenge. All of them came from the brain of Shakespeare, but what do we know about the Bard himself? In a tour-de-force performance, veteran actor Simon Callow (the original Roman Mozart in Amadeus on stage, the film Shakespeare in Love) assumes the daunting challenge of illuminating the man behind the roles in this utterly compelling one-man play by preeminent Shakespeare biographer Jonathan Bate, directed and designed by Tom Cairns. Apr 4—7 & 10—14, at 7:30pm and Apr 8, 2012 at 3pm. Buy tickets here.
