Coney Island Sand Sculpting Contest
Fifty mounds of sand on the Coney Island beach, from West 10th to West 12th Streets, will be prepared by the NYC Parks Dept. starting at 6 am to be transformed into artistic creations by amateur sand sculptors during the 21st Annual Sand Sculpting Contest and Unity Day Celebration presented by Astella Development Corp. and the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS)/New York Aquarium. The amateur sculptors, who have come from Coney Island, other parts of NYC, and beyond, are competing in five categories: Individual Adult, Individual Child, Adult Group, Child Group, and Mixed (Children and Adults). Saturday, 12 pm – 5 pm, On the Coney Island Beach and Boardwalk.

Free Summer Sunday
Come on out to the Heart of Brooklyn for a special day of FREE admission, contests and prizes in celebration of Heart of Brooklyn’s 10th anniversary. For the very first time, all six HOB attractions (Brooklyn Botanic Garden, Brooklyn Children’s Museum, Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn Public Library, Prospect Park and Prospect Park Zoo) will be open to the public free of charge on Sunday, August 7! Also enjoy FREE Brooklyn Icons Mini Golf at Grand Army Plaza from 12-5pm.

Brooklyn Flea + Smorgasburg
On Saturday, the Flea is held at 176 Lafayette Ave. (between Clermont + Vanderbilt Avenues) in Fort Greene. On Sunday, the Flea will be at 27 North 6th Street (between Kent Avenue + East River). We also hold our all-food market Smorgasburg at the Williamsburg location on Saturday. The Flea features over a 150 vendors offering a great mix of vintage, antiques, jewelry, and amazing food. Saturday & Sunday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. (Flea) and 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. (Smorg). Free.
