Build a Boat at the Gowanus Studio Space
Come help build a large pre-hispanic mexican barge at The Gowanus Studio Space as part of SEAWORTHY: a summer of boat inspired artwork, workshops, and adventures. Traditionally used for shipping crops in and out of the fields and on the canals of Xochimilco, these 30ft long craft equipped with a dining table and chairs are predominantly now used for the enjoyment of local and non-local tourists. 3 Weekends Starting July 2nd and 3rd, through July 17th. First session: Saturday, 11:00am to 4:30pm. $65 donation.
Kayaking at Brooklyn Bridge Park
Get out on the water for free kayaking with the Brooklyn Bridge Park Boathouse on Pier 1! No reservations required.
Children under 18 must have an adult guardian present, life jackets and equipment are provided. Saturday, 11-4pm, free.
Brooklyn Museum’s First Saturdays: Vishnu
At the Brooklyn Museum’s Target First Saturdays, thousands of visitors enjoy free programs of art and entertainment each month from 5 to 11 p.m. All evening long, the Museum Café serves a wide selection of sandwiches, salads, and beverages, and a cash bar offers wine and beer. Check out the website for special performances this Saturday. Saturday night, music begins at 5pm.
Brooklyn Flea + Smorgasburg
On Saturday, the Flea is held at 176 Lafayette Ave. (between Clermont + Vanderbilt Avenues) in Fort Greene. On Sunday, the Flea will be at 27 North 6th Street (between Kent Avenue + East River). Saturday at the Williamsburg location is also the home of our all-food market, Smorgasburg. The Flea features over a 150 vendors offering a great mix of vintage, antiques, jewelry, and amazing food. Saturday & Sunday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Free.
