Fort Greene Festival is a two-day music, film, and cultural festival that brings over 10,000 people to Fort Greene to celebrate one of Brooklyn’s most vibrant and artistic enclaves. Fort Greene Festival provides local performing arts and community media programs that reflects Fort Greene’s diverse community. Potato Planting Days
Help spread manure, till soil and plant potatoes (and in the fall, you can come back and reap what you sowed!). Once the planting is done, wash up, and churn some fresh butter and spread it on freshly baked cornbread made on-site over an open fire. All at Prospect Park’s Lefferts Historical House. Saturday, May 28 & Sunday, May 29, 1 4 p.m.

The Grand Procession: Civil War 150th Anniversary
Led by cavalry, Green-Wood Cemetary’s Civil War procession will wind through our historic grounds and past more than 4,500 candlelit graves of Civil War veterans, guarded by uniformed re-enactors and serenaded by musicians and singers. May 29, 2011, 7:00 pm, $10 per person or $25 for families.

Brooklyn Flea + Smorgasburg
On Saturday, the Flea is held at 176 Lafayette Ave. (between Clermont + Vanderbilt Avenues) in Fort Greene. On Sunday, the Flea will be at 27 North 6th Street (between Kent Avenue + East River). And on Saturday it’ll be the second week of the all-food market Smorgasburg, at the same Williamsburg location. Get there early before the food runs out! Saturday & Sunday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Free.
