Fleece Festival
It’s time for some wild and woolly fun! Watch the sheep and alpacas of the Prospect Park Zoo get their annual haircuts, and meet local artists who will demonstrate weaving, knitting, and spinning techniques. Musical guests will also perform. May 21-22, events throughout the day.
Bed Stuy Neighborhood Bike Ride
It’s the annual neighborhood bike ride with a stop-off at the gardens of Bed Stuy. For more information email bedstuybikes@gmail.com. Saturday, 9am, free. Departing and returning to 376 Tompkins Avenue.
Red Hook Clean Me 2
With winter finally over it’s now time to tackle the debris spoiling our neighborhood sidewalks and green spaces. Join friends and neighbors to help further local undertakings to beautify our community. The morning’s efforts will focus on picking up the debris that has built up along Van Brunt Street over the winter months. Saturday, May 21st, from 9 to 12. Drop by any time. You can sign in and pick up supplies at 402 Van Brunt Street.
Brooklyn Flea + Smorgasburg
On Saturday, the Flea is held at 176 Lafayette Ave. (between Clermont + Vanderbilt Avenues) in Fort Greene. On Sunday, the Flea will be at 27 North 6th Street (between Kent Avenue + East River). And on Saturday we will be launching the all-food market Smorgasburg, at the same Williamsburg location. Join us – and all our food vendors – to get the season started off right. Saturday & Sunday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Free.
The “fleecing” (or is that shearing?) sounds fun! Unfortunately we’re all booked up weeks in advance. Would there be any way to post weekend events well in advance? For example: “Weekend Events in June”. That would be helpful. Thanks!
