FAB Fridays: Tonight!
Over 40 businesses along Fulton Street in Clinton Hill and Fort Greene are participating this Friday in a roving party that starts during the day and goes through the evening and into the night. Events and activities include extended happy hours, food tastings, champagne toasts, lunch and dinner deals, shopping specials, live music, artist receptions and activities for children. Then on Saurday and Sunday come celebrate the visual arts as FAB businesses salute SONYA (South of the Navy Yard Artists) and their free Studio Stroll. More details here.
Fort Greene History Tours
On Saturday at 10 am, Join Travelgoat CEO and Fort Greene resident Zach Aarons on an architectural walking tour of the neighborhood; the tour will start at the boulder by the tennis courts. On Sunday at 1 pm, take a Walt Whitman-oriented tour of Fort Greene Park and learn about this poet’s intimate connection with Brooklyn’s first official park; meet at the visitors center. The Brooklyn Flea
The Flea is outdoors all weekend. On Saturday, the Flea is held at 176 Lafayette Ave. (between Clermont + Vanderbilt Avenues) in Fort Greene. On Sunday, the Flea will be at 27 North 6th Street (between Kent Avenue + East River). The Flea features over a 150 vendors offering a great mix of vintage, antiques, jewelry, and amazing food. Saturday & Sunday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Free.

Rally to End Helicopter Noise
Join your neighbors, community leaders, and local elected officials torally to end all tourist helicopter flights from the Downtown ManhattanHeliport. Brooklynites from DUMBO to Red Hook have put up with this nuisance for too long. For questions, contact Senator Squadrons office at 718-875-1517. The rally begins Sunday, May 15th at 1pm, rain or shine. Meet at Pier 6.
Public Hearing for PS9 Co-Location
P.S. 9 in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn is still fighting the proposed co-location of Brooklyn East Collegiate Charter School in our building at 80 Underhill Ave. While the New York State Education Commissioner annulled the co-location vote on March 31st, the Department of Education has filed new paperwork in an attempt to comply with the law. A public hearing on the co-location proposal will be held at the school with the DOE. 80 Underhill Avenue, 6:00p.m.
The Fabulous Fifth Avenue Fair

Green-Wood Volunteer Gathering
As Green-Wood Cemetary prepares for the celebration of the Sesquicentennial of the Civil War, they need as many hands as they can get. Help place American flags on the graves of our veterans of the Civil War. Spend a spring day at Green-Wood and know that you’re helping to honor the memories of the men who sacrificed so much for the cause. Saturday, May 14, 2011 at 9:00 AM.
