3rd Annual SITE Fest

Arts in Bushwick is pleased to announce the third annual SITE Fest. Performance artists, dancers, and musicians will offer a condensed, two-day sampling of work from the burgeoning arts scene of Bushwick, lauded by the New York Times as arguably the coolest place on the
planet. SITE Fest focuses around four hubs that have swiftly become major forces in the Brooklyn art scene: Chez Bushwick, Grace Exhibition Space, The Bushwick Starr and 3rd Ward. Over 75 performances will take place at our hub venues. Come and enjoy this amazing event! Saturday & Sunday, March 5 & 6. Hours and locations vary. 17th Annual Preservation Conference
HDC is proud to announce its 17th Annual Preservation Conference, Looking Forward, Looking Back: Forty Years of Preserving NYC Neighborhoods. This year the Historic Districts Council celebrates forty years as the citywide advocate for New York’s historic neighborhoods. The Conference will examine the history and changes within the preservation community that have taken place in those four decades. There will be a discussion about successful campaigns, unfortunate losses, lessons learned and how to use this information to inform future preservation campaigns. The Brooklyn Flea
The winter Flea is located at Skylight One Hanson (the former Williamsburgh Savings Bank across from the Atlantic Center mall) on Saturdays and Sundays. The Flea features over a 100 vendors offering a great mix of vintage, antiques, jewelry, and food. Saturday & Sunday, March 5 & 6. 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Free. One Hanson Place/Williamsburg Savings Bank.

Brooklyn Baseball Film Series
This is the third and final film in the BHS Brooklyn Baseball Film Series. Dem Bums: The History of the Brooklyn Dodgers (75 minutes) is a moving documentary about the beloved Brooklyn Dodgers, considered by many to be the team of the ordinary man. This film consists of several episodic sections that recount the team’s early beginnings in Brooklyn, the Golden Era of New York Baseball from 1947-1957, and their heartbreaking move to Los Angeles in 1958. Art Reception: Industrial Society and It’s Future Failure
RePOP is pleased to present the works of Matthew William Robinson in his first New York solo exhibition Industrial Society and It’s Future Failure this Friday. All are cordially invited to join in on this special evening to meet the artist and his visions. Thought provoking, haunting and timeless, Mr. Robinson’s works will be on view until the first of April. Friday, March 4. 7:30 p.m. – 11 p.m. Free. 68 Washington Avenue, RePOP.

Crown Heights North Tour
Unusually rich in history and architecture, Crown Heights is being rediscovered. Focusing on the finest blocks between Eastern Parkway and Grant Square, we’ll view free-standing mansions and row houses, as well as Dean Street, the spine of the recently designated historic district. We will also view a remarkable collection of churches, the former Union League Club and the Brooklyn Children’s Museum, dramatically expanded by Rafael Viñoly in 2008. Saturday, March 5. 11 a.m. $15, $10 MAS members. Pay at tour. Meeting place located at the Franklin Ave./Fulton Street subway stop on the C and S trains, outside the turnstiles.

    Oh my G*d!!!! I have to get my hair done! It really crept up on me suddenly. I thought industrial society was supposed to come to an end in 2012!
