38th Annual International African Arts Festival
Now in its 38th year, the International African Arts Festival takes over Commodore Bayy Park today through the weekend and features live music, dance, spoken word performances, African marketplace, showcase performances, fashion, and hair shows. The event is rain or shine and a donation is suggested. Thursday, July 2 through Sunday, July 5, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Commodore Barry Park at Park Avenue and Navy Streets in Downtown Brooklyn.
Brooklyn Flea
The Brooklyn Flea takes place in Ft. Greene on Saturday and its historic Brooklyn Bridge location on Sunday. Both locations feature a great mix of vintage, antiques, jewelry, and food. Saturday, June 27. 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School, Lafayette Avenue between Clermont and Vanderbilt Avenues. Sunday, June 28. 11 a.m.-6 p.m. In Dumbo underneath the Brooklyn Bridge at the corner of Water and New Dock Street.
Independence Day Williamsburg Walks
On Bedford Avenue, from North 4th to North 9th, Neighbors Allied for Good Growth and The L Magazine is hosting a special Williamsburg Walks for the fourth of July. Come enjoy the five blocks of art, free yoga, and kid-friendly exercise. Williamsburg Walks is held on Saturdays until July 11th. Saturday, July 4th. 12 p.m. until Sunset. Bedford Avenue, Williamsburg.
Bay Ridge Fourth of July Picnic
Bay Ridge’s Second Annual Fourth of July Picnic will be hosted by State Senator Martin Golden. There will be sprinklers and games for kids and seven live bands to celebrate the weekend. Saturday, July 4. 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. 82nd Street Field at Shore Road.
“The Brooklyn Show”
The 440 Gallery in Park Slope is holding an exhibit featuring one place in mind – Brooklyn. Media including painting and photography will exhibit scenes from all over Brooklyn. “The Brooklyn Show” will be held until July 25th. Ongoing until July 25th. 440 Gallery, 440 Sixth Avenue.
Celebrate Independence Day in Prospect Park!
Enjoy the weekend at Prospect Park by making a plumed hat while writing on a replica of the Declaration of Independence on July 4th. Live music, story telling, and the Carousel will be there to provide fun for all. July 4 and 5. 1-4 p.m for scheduled events. Prospect Park.
Hot Summer Nights!
