Story Hour at P.S. Bookshop

Meditation Session
The Crown Hill Gnostic Temple invites you to a cosmic meditation session. Guest artists perform live drone music during each session, which helps keep your mind in the moment. Weather permitting, sessions will be held in the backyard. Wear comfortable clothes, bring a cushion if you like, and an open mind. Meditations last 1/2 hour. Beginners welcome. New Fitness Class

Beast-a-netics is a new fitness class led by Tim Haft and based on the Tabata protocol method. Class starts with a warm-up and consists of four sets of six aerobically demanding, body weight exercises such as burpees, sprints, bear walks, squat jumps, mountain climbers, and high knees. Registration suggested. Students are required to complete a one-time waiver. Classes are held rain or shine. Tuesdays & Thursdays, September 7 & 9. 7 a.m. – 7:45 a.m. $10. Lorimer St., between Driggs Avenue and Bayard Street, McCarren Park.

Slavic Soul Party
Come and enjoy some insane Gypsy brass, soulful Balkan anthems, and hip-grinding American funk. It will blow your mind! Tuesday, September 7. 9 p.m. $10. 376 Ninth Street, Barbes.

Sunset Pilates on Pier 6
Join Lou Cornacchia, founder of Cobble Hill’s Body in Balance Studio, for sunset pilates on Pier 6 for an Intermediate Pilates Mat Class. Lou’s teaching remains true to the basic tenets established by Joseph Pilates. Students will learn proper technique, core muscle strength, spinal alignment and shoulder stabilization. Classes are free and open to all, but Pilates experience is suggested. Students should bring a good thick mat and a Dynaband. Thursday, September 9. 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Free. Pier 6 (south side, in front of One Brooklyn Bridge Park).

The Green Team
Green Team members donate thousands of hours to provide critical care for the much-used park located at Main and Plymouth Streets. Be one of the many to help out with the Conservancy’s environment.
