Green Team
The Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy’s Green Team of volunteer stewards have returned to the Main Street section of Brooklyn Bridge Park for the 2010 season. Green Team members donate thousands of hours to provide critical care for the much-used park located at Main and Plymouth Streets. Be one of the many to help out with the Conservancy’s environment. Home Base: Memories of the Brooklyn Dodgers at Ebbets Field
Through archives, photos and oral histories, the exhibition explores the connection between Ebbets Field, the Dodgers and the Brooklyn community. The exhibit features the history of the team and its fans by digging into BHS’ rich Dodgers collection that includes baseball cards, photographs of the field, ticket stubs, and much more! Home Base brings the thrill and excitement of attending games at Ebbets Field during the height of the Dodgers era. Home Base is curated by high school students from Brooklyn Technical High School, Cobble Hill School of American Studies, The Packer Collegiate Institute and Saint Ann’s School as part of the Brooklyn Historical Society’s Exhibition Laboratory (Ex Lab) after-school museum studies program. Sunset Swing Fundraiser
Sunset Swing will honor the builders of Brooklyn Bridge Park – Regina Myer, President of the Brooklyn Bridge Park Development Corporation, Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates, Skanska USA, as well as Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP, the Conservancy’s pro bono law firm. Sunset Swing will transform Pier 1 into a swinging hotspot with smoking music and swing dancing, a 30’s vibe, and spectacular views of lower Manhattan, the Statue of Liberty, and New York Harbor. The Search for Life in the Universe

Are we alone? It’s a question that has obsessed us for centuries, and now we have the technology to do more than wonder. Scientists on the hunt for distant planets and extraterrestrial intelligence will take us on their expeditions into faraway galaxies and barely visible realms. Nobel Laureate Sir Paul Nurse will journey to the brink of discovery with Jill Tarter, David Charbonneau, and Steven Squyres to contemplate what it would mean to have company in the cosmos.
