Community Design Workshop
The N.Y.C. Economic Development Corporation is hosting the first of three design workshops to improve the connection between Carroll Gardens, Cobble Hill and the Columbia Street waterfront . 6th Annual “Readings on the 4th Floor” Series
The PS 107 Readings on the 4th Floor is a topical literary series that raises funds for the PTA of P.S. 107. During this session, Alexandra Styron, a New Yorker contributor and novelist in her own right (All The Finest Girls), and Bliss Broyard, who wrote about coming to terms with an entire side of her family she never knew about (One Drop) will read from their works and talk about their experiences. Society of Old Brooklynites Meeting
Their guest, Jean Portell, will speak on research she has done on The Brooklyn Museum, including two of her favorite topics: “The History of Art Conservation at the Museum”, and how that investigation led to references to the former Brooklyn Microscopical Society. 1st Annual Spring Wine Pairing
The Board of Managers of the Bedford-Stuyvesant YMCA cordially invites you to its 1st Annual Spring Wine Pairing featuring wines of South Africa. Wines will be paired with an assortment of regional hors d’oeuvres and desserts. The Adventures of Prince Achmed
Smack Mellon will be hosting Cinema 16 as part of the gallery’s Press Play First Thursdays concert series. There will be a performance by Motmot and, afterward, a film screening of The Adventures of Prince Achmed. Taking from the tradition of vaudeville, the performance is showcased at a variety of spaces. Each monthly screening modernizes the tradition of silent film by pairing contemporary musicians with antique shorts. Come and support your love of film. Thursday, May 6.
