Smithsonian Magazine’s 5th Annual Museum Day
The New York Transit Museum is the largest institution in North America dedicated to celebrating the past, present, and future of New York’s regional transportation network. On Wednesday, the New York Transit Museum will participate in the fifth annual Museum Day, presented by Smithsonian magazine. To participate, download your Museum Day Admission Card from the link above. Participants will have to show it in order to gain free access for two. Wednesday, August 26. 12 p.m. – 5 p.m. Boerum Place & Schermerhorn Street, New York Transit Museum.
American Beer and BBQ
Paul Kermizian, owner of Barcade and Gutter, went on a road trip with some friends and during his excursion, he and his friends visited 38 breweries in 40 days. This trek became a documentary called American Beer. Jeremy Goldberg, Kermizian’s road trip pal, created his own brewery, Cape Ann, due to his experience. Cape Ann is sponsoring the outdoor screening of American Beer on the patio of Hope Lounge on Wednesday. Along with the screening, $12 gets you a pint of Cape Ann’s Fisherman’s Brew. Prospect Lefferts Gardens Food Co-op
A group of residents in Prospect Lefferts Gardens are interested in starting a food co-op in the area. Their first meeting will be available to those who are interested in helping to improve the
availability of healthy food in Prospect Lefferts Gardens and its neighboring communities. This meeting will discuss the planning for a community-wide food issues meeting for October and much more. Wednesday, August 26. 7 p.m. See website from link above for location of meeting.
Broken Reed Saxophone Quartet
These four musicians, known for playing at Lincoln Center’s Bruno Walter Auditorium, the Juilliard School, Carnegie Hall’s Zankel Hall, the Blue Note Jazz club, are playing at Solo.
