Workshops for Fowler Square, a Fort Greene Public Plaza
The Fulton Area Business Alliance is holding workshops so community members can offer input on the public plaza that will be created at Fulton Street and Lafayette Avenue. Residents are invited to participate in helping to shape what the plaza at Fowler Square will look like and what sort of programming will offered there. Tuesday, June 28th and Wednesday, June 29th from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the community room of the Lafayette Avenue Presbyterian Church at 85 South Oxford Street, between Fulton and Lafayette.
Attainable Sustainable Cities
Dickson Despommier of The Vertical Farm and Mitchell Joachim of Terreform ONE will discuss the idea that the city of the future should provide all necessities for living within its physical borders. Mitchell Joachim is founder of Terreform ONE, located on Flatbush Ave in Brooklyn, a non-profit design group of scientists, artists, architects and others that promotes green design in cities. Dickson Despommier, author of The Vertical Farm, advocates the development of urban skyscraper farms that can feed an entire city.
