RUBIX KUBE has taken New York City and the country by storm, headlining regularly at their weekly BACK TO THE EIGHTIES SHOW at Canal Room in the heart of TriBeca. RUBIX KUBE is more than just a cover band; it is a true ‘BACK TO THE EIGHTIES SHOW’ experience. With lead vocalists Scott Lovelady and Cherie Martorana, along with some of the best musicians in the business, decked out in retro 80s attire, RUBIX KUBE performs all the hit pop and rock songs from the 80s. They portray the songs just like the originals, both musically and

Lecture by Anne Rasmussen: Middle Eastern Music in Brooklyn: The New York Nahda
BHS partners with the Center for Traditional Music and Dance (CTMD) to present one in a ten-part lecture series by leading ethnomusicologists/folklorists entitled “The Sounds of Immigrant New York” in Winter/Spring 2011. Anne Rasmussen, PhD, a leading ethnomusicologist in the field of Middle Eastern Music to present a lecture on the Middle Eastern music scene in NYC. Dr. Rasmussen is a professor at William and Mary; where she also directs a Middle Eastern ensemble. For this presentation, Rasmussen surveys a century of dynamic Arab American music culture with a focus on New York and suggest the ways in which the last twenty years may be characterized by neo-classism and multicultural fusion. Spring Break Discovery Week
During Spring Break, commemorate Earth Day with a native plant celebration in the Discovery Garden! Kids will learn about wild Brooklyn plants through hands-on explorations, create a take-home project, and discover a world of wildflowers throughout the Garden. Free with Garden admission. 84th Precinct Community Council Meeting

The 84th Precinct Community Council will be meeting on Tuesday evening. The public is invited. Attendees will receive updates on recent criminal activity and Police Department response.
