Sneak Preview of Jane’s Carousel
Enjoy a sneak peek of Jane’s Carousel with Jane Walentas, and a preview of its new home in the Empire-Fulton Ferry section of Brooklyn Bridge Park with Brooklyn Bridge Park President Regina Myer. The tour begins at 56 Water Street and will be followed by cocktails and hors d’oeuvres provided by Michael O’Keeffe and The River Café. Live music by Stephane Wrembel, hailed as “one of the greatest guitar players I’ve ever seen” by Josh Baron, Relix Magazine. Waterfront Workouts with the Fitness Guru
The Fitness Guru returns with Pilates Mat classes! Join instructors as they teach you to properly activate the muscles of your abdomen and back to create an incredible amount of stability in your torso. Classes are free and open to all skill levels, but space is limited. Registration begins at 6:30pm each evening. A limited number of mats are available for rental for free (with valid ID). Sunset Pilates on Pier 6
Join Lou Cornacchia, founder of Cobble Hill’s Body in Balance Studio, for sunset pilates on Pier 6 for an Intermediate Pilates Mat Class. Lou’s teaching remains true to the basic tenets established by Joseph Pilates. Students will learn proper technique, core muscle strength, spinal alignment and shoulder stabilization. Classes are free and open to all, but Pilates experience is suggested. Students should bring a good thick mat and a Dynaband. Thursday, September 30. 6 p.m. – 7 p.m. Free. Capital Project Streetscape Design Meeting
The North Flatbush Avenue Business Improvement District partnering with NYC Department of Transportation will be presenting their conceptual drawings and plans of the new Capital Project Streetscape Design before Community Board 6 and 8. The public is welcome and invited. The plans include a transformation of the 6th, 7th and 8th Avenue Triangles and much more! There will be a Q & A session after presentation.
