“This cute cupcake shop, which seats about 20 people, opened in July of 2005. This Valentine’s Day, owner Luigi Lobuglio will be delving into a romantic theme, serving red cupcakes topped with cupid and heart-shaped sprinkles, heart-shaped cakes and cookies with amorous messages scrawled on them. Regular menu items will also be available; Brooklyn black out cake, an all time favorite according to Lobuglio, is made from dark chocolate with ganache filling and covered by 2 types of chocolate butter. Another popular item is the Red Velvet cake, a traditional southern cake with cocoa and cream cheese icing that is completely red inside. The new Nutella Cappuccino as well as their traditional Caramel Vanilla Cappuccino and hot chocolate will be served to wash down the goodies.” [The Brooklyn Paper]

After the jump: Chowhounders complain about the cranky bartender at Applewood; Lundy’s closes in Sheepshead Bay.
Applewood
501 11th Street, Park Slope, 718.768.2044
“But what really, really sucked was the attitude of the bartender. We were seated next to the bar and just before we left I called him by his first name to compliment him on the drinks we had. He immediately said, ‘How do you know my name?’ When I told him we were finally introduced the last time we were in he said, ‘That must have been a long time ago, I don’t remember you.’ Then he said that the date I gave was a day the restaurant was closed. He then gave another shitty reply and our server, who is simply the best, tried to rescue the day by supplying the correct day, date, time and the exact order we had. All to no avail. The bartender is simply a shithead and that’s all there is to say about it.” [Chowhound]

“The giant Sheepshead Bay seafood restaurant, which opened in 1934, has closed. It had closed after the death of the founder, Irving Lundy, in 1977, and reopened in 1995.” [NY Times]
Little Cupcake Bake Shop has such delicious cupcakes. I was there the other day with my 6 yr old nephew and 3 yr old niece. The staff was so friendly to them. We really had a wonderful time. I’m so glad to have such a warm and pleasant place to bring children in the neighborhood.
Ooh, it looks like someone re-started the thread on Chowhound! He even questioned why the previous one was removed.
The Appleewood bartender topic from chowhound was removed…someone’s feelings hurt?…I think if someone acts negatively, they should be exposed… maybe he’ll be nicer from now on…
