“Jesus Christ they were good. The chicken was all white, juicy and
finely pulled while the homemade corn tortillas were thick, spongy and
full of flavor. A bushel of fresh cilantro, a hearty dose of bright
green tomatillo salsa and a squirt of lime brightened up the dish with
a fruit-and-vegetable-ly freshness that made me wish I’d ordered
three.” [Clean Plate Club]
After the jump: outdoor wine-sipping and seasonal pizzas.

Donna da Vine
378 Atlantic Avenue in Boerum Hill
“Alyssa is working on making the highly coveted outdoor space a great
destination to sip wines and nibble on house-made snacks.
Additionally, its location in Boerum Hill makes it a great alternative
to Gowanus Yacht Club, Trout, and the other hipster havens for outdoor
drinking.” [Press Release via Eater]
Oven
60 Henry Street in Brooklyn Heights
“Oven serves a menu of thin crust classics like Margarita and
Quattrformaggio. Keeping on the cutting edge of Brooklyn dining,
though, the pizza masters at Oven are committed to incorporating
seasonal and locally sourced ingredients. The menu also features a
carefully crafted selection of salads, entrée and calzones.” [Press
Release via Brooklyn Heights Blog]
FYI, Oven hasn’t opened yet. It is scheduled to open on May 5th.
I looooove the food at Matamoros. The tacos and pozole are delicious, and their pork and red chile sauce tamales are the closest thing to my Grandma’s I’ve found.
