The Daily News ran this rendering of the new Water Slide Beach that’s slated to open in Coney Island on July 4th weekend and stay up and running through Labor Day. “It’s a giant inflatable water slide,” said Anthony Gach of Party Magic USA, the concessionaire. “You’ve never seen anything like it. It’s really a treat.” Dunno, looks pretty low-budge to us.

  1. actually, no, youre right it’s a good thing, and perhaps the best.. cuz the other aspects of “brooklyn’s renaissance” have actually for the most part all been mega barf-worthy.

  2. Luna Park has created an overwhelming interest in coney island. The city is capitalizing in the short term. This is temporary water park will pave the way for a real water park in years to come.

  3. Looks like fun. Maybe someday they’ll reinvent the more permanent water slide rides that used to be in the old Luna Park and Dreamland.

On a practical side, I guess they use really sturdy plastic/rubber that’s hard to puncture, and they probably will have to have a metal detector or something.
