We went there last night to scope things out. The interior is not all that comfortable.. kinda noisy but the seats are ok. The outdoor seating was a nice surprise. The staff was incredibly friendly, but most important.. the burger. It was pretty damned good. It took a while to cook but they seemed like hand-made patties. I got the pickle and onion burger and will likely have it again. I have hope that it will survive. I think some redecorating will help a lot. I see what they are going for, but that interior is a little too cafeteria-like.
I just had the Zoe Vegetarian, thinking it would be a veggie burger or maybe a roasted vegetable sandwich. Instead, it was scrambled eggs on a roll. There was some zucchini in there but … pretty bad.
Raising children on a eat-out diet and a diet of red meat ice cream? I don’t think so!
It’s the son of the previous Magic Fountain owners.
Take a look at their prices – weird numbers like $4.74 or $6.23. I know it’s so that taxes make them rounded, but still…super weird.
Oh, and $7 milkshakes. No thanks.
White just doesn’t work in brownstone Brooklyn.
We went in Friday night during the movie shoot carnival around 9pm for one chocolate shake and one vanilla shake. They were “out of vanilla”. So, I changed my order to one strawberry shake and one chocolate shake. The were “out of strawberry”. I just ordered one chocolate shake. It was $7.30. As I was obviously suffering from sticker shock, the cashier told me that it was a really amazing shake and that it was huge. My daughter and I then proceeded to wait. After about 5 minutes, we got up to see if it was ready as we saw the clerk hand a chocolate shake to a kid at the counter. It turned out that they gave our chocolate shake to the kid who didn’t even have a receipt. The girl apologized as they quickly made our one “really amazing and huge shake”. When they finished and handed it over, I noticed a few things. First, it was hardly “huge”. Secondly, it was not very thick and kinda runny. Thirdly, it was not quite amazing. It was really kinda tasteless. I told the guy behind the counter that I was not satisfied and that they would not be around long by selling 7 dollar shakes like this. There was no whipped cream, no spoon, no napkins, or anything. Needless to say, I don’t think we’ll be going back to get any $7.30 shakes anytime soon.
Haven’t tried the food. I had hopes for this but the interior is entirely uninviting.
This is one of the most awful looking things I have ever seen.
Yeah, seriously. Does this Magic Fountain have anything to do with the Magic Fountain that occupied this same space last year? the ice cream parlor that didn’t really sell any ice cream.
