  1. Thank you Brownstoner for highlighting the DUMBO Neighb Asso annual meeting tonight…everyone is welcome! The focus of the evening is preservation, with Simeon Bankoff, Exec. Director of Historic Districts Council as the main speaker.

  2. Anon 9:47– I agree with you. If it’s bad it must be Bed-Stuy. It’s not by change that this mistake was made.

That was in Prospect Heights. Since this neighborhood is now more “desirable”, such attention would bring property values down. The message is “keep the dark smokey cloud in the darker hood.”

  3. Any kind of win against Ratner is a win for Brooklyn. I think that article overstates the impact on FCRC as much as FCRC is overstating the doom they will be in if the process doesn’t finish quickly. FCRC has deep enough pockets to withstand losing $48 million a year for a year or two, but probably not much more than that. I’m definately going to try to donate whatever I can to the DDDB legal fund to help keep them fighting the good fight.

  4. The piece about the Purchase building is so sad. It’s incredible that 7 people can decide the fate of a neighborhood fixture; and are these people — whose job is to protect these buildings — just blatantly working for kickbacks from developers? I mean, there’s no assurance for that land that it won’t get turned into the battery park condo row.

    So sad.
