  1. A different kind of brownstone obsession:

    I need a Brooklyn brownstone with a grand or baby grand inside, for a few scenes in an independent film. The owner will be paid for this use. Can people make suggestions?

  2. I’m here and I never said Everyone would take public transportation, simply that putting an arena next to a HUGE transportation will help insure that many more people take public transportation.
    If you think auto traffic will go up if you put the arena next to Atlantic Terminal, you know what would happen if you put it in Coney Island, Navy Yard or Crown Heights all of which has been suggested here.
    People can fight it all they want but there is no more efficient place for an arena then next to a public transport hub, and Penn Station is already covered.

  3. we have similiar photos of our block in the snow- when snows cover this neighborhood you can’t help but feel like victorian brooklyn is here and now- the snow tends to cover up all the confusing alterations and only let’s the structures and main design thru- especially when it’s really quiet and no cars moving around in the big snowstorms. i can’t wait.

    the article starts:
    “Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz — a major backer of the borough’s push for a pro-basketball arena — acknowledged yesterday that the development could create more traffic than Madison Square Garden does in Manhattan.”

    whatever and how much gets built there has got to take the traffic impact into account – even with the current hole in the ground, that corner already gets as much traffic as 34th and 7th ave in manhattan.
    And asking for a realistic assessment of a gargantuan, taxpayer-subsidized project’s impact, is not the same as being anti- all development.
