Donatella, I agree. Every time I’m there I wonder how they try to claim such world-class status based on the exhibits they select. The permanent collection on display seems never to be rotated. No vision at all. But what do we expect? The art history world is not known for being avante-garde or refreshing.

It’s Official: Fed Governors Are Starting To Worry About A Double Dip
Provided By Business Insider June 15, 2010:
“According to WSJ, the debates have begun inside the Fed about what it should do in the event of a double dip.
With the market swooning, and Europe clearly having problems, with the potential to put a drag on the economy, not to mention nascent domestic issues, it’s absurd to imagine the Fed isn’t beginning to wargame the scenarios.
So, what does the Fed do if the data really starts to get bad again?
Almost certainly the resumption of aggressive asset purchases. That’s basically its only tool, and though it has a few ways of going about that, something along those lines would probably done. Bear in my that the Fed has always said it was keeping the door open to this move in the future.”
Dip dip dip…Granolaaaaaaa diiiiiiip…Remember those commercials?

“Feminist Art Center”
Thats your tax dollars DIBS
you really should express how you feel, donatella. Don’t hold it in.
Hi Etson, thank you for your support yesterday re my toilet project. Re, the tattoo, that Brooklyn Bridge tattoo is what got me banned. 🙁 (I asked if it had bike lane).
By the way, wanted to comment on the Brooklyn Museum article. I am unhappy, very unhappy (somewhere between sad, disappointed, irked and very pissed off) about what has happened to this Museum. What the NYT refers to as a “populist” approach under Lehman has been has been the most low level, condescending, dumbed-down program imaginable. It is politically correct, stupid, downplays the extraordinary richness of the collection — from the world call Egyptian collection, Islamic art, Asian ceramics, and American Art. There is an amazing American Art collection. So what do they do? – they put little cutsey comments from kids from the neighborhood near the paintings… they downplay the strength of the museum. Now they have a FOR SHIT Feminist Art Center, and ushered in “controversial” (barf) exhibitions such as Sensations, First Saturdays is shit, and these bullshit shows like Rock and Roll photography. The final staw is this PATHETIC Bravo show. I also hate the crappy renovation.
Well, have a nice day.
If any of us were real BHers we would have changed the subject by now.
Although, snark aside, a lot of the BH territory is being bought up by very high achieving/high status young yuppie families. There is serious culture clash between them and the old school set.
Congregational, I’d think, to fit in with the transplanted New England WASPs in BH.
I don’t think the BH bloggers are the real deal. Mere wannabees at best.
Sometimes the mask slips: IIRC, one of their regulars was pictured showing off his new tattoo on the day you all visited. Also, he seemed to be wearing something that looked suspiciously like a wifebeater.
I guess brownstoner is waiting to do a whole thread on that sackett street bldg with all the babies instead of linking to article here.(nytimes this morning)
