The popular children’s doctor Tribeca Pediatrics, which has already expanded from its Southern Manhattan origins to Williamsburg, Park Slope and Boerum Hill, will be setting up yet another Brooklyn outpost, this one in Fort Greene: A tipster just sent in this photo of a sign that just went into the window of the former bridal gown store at 771 Fulton Street, next door to Night of the Cookers. We don’t think it’s a leap to see that there will plenty of demand from the Dan Zanes crowd for this one!

  1. BoerumHill, this isn’t in line with our experience. We take our son to the BH office. They have been pro-vaccination from the start. It may help that we are too, but even at the orientation with expectant families they said that as an office they follow all standard vaccination guidelines. They said they would discuss this further with parents that had concerns, but left it at that.

  2. I texted Momma BH, and she says she has philosophical differences with Tri-Ped about immunization.

If you’re a big fan of Jenny McCarthy or Andrew Wakefield, I suspect you’re a big fan of Tri-Ped.

  3. oh, i saw dan zanes on sesame street the other day- emerging from a brownstone with a little girl, both playing ukeleles or banjos or something. I assumed he was a travelling Trachtenburg- what ever happened to them?

  4. i’m taking notes, heather. i have to admit, i want to provide a faux-affluent, faux boho Brooklyn upbringing for my kids. I think i’ve already fallen short, tho: so far, son chugs (watered-down) juice like a champ, didn’t get the scooter for x-mas, i can’t swing the music class tuition, and his nanny is st. lucian). I have noticed the fanatical following of these pediatricians, even though they sound no different than anyone else.

  5. Dan Zanes, Music for Aardvarks, saltwater sandals,a mini-kick scooter, a kikit star hat, Mr J’s Gym, a tibetan nanny, PS 321, 29 or BNS, no juice and… Tribeca Pediatrics. All the accoutrements of an affluent Brooklyn boho childhood.

Tribeca’s supposed to be good, despite my snark. But there is something slightly creepy re: their cult-like following.

On the other hand, when I was a new parent, I really appreciated the “stop freaking out, your kid is fine” wisdom of Michel Cohen’s book, “New Parenting Basics.”

I love the pediatric practice we use (which isn’t Tribeca), but most of my friends use Tribeca.
