That’s the Tennis House on the hill in the middle of Prospect Park. Built as a clubhouse for lawn tennis players in 1910, used as HQ til ’08 by the late lamented BCUE, and now…don’t know what they’re planning for it, but it’s closed to the public for renovations last time I looked. I wonder what they will use it for? (Its location in the middle of the park makes it a little hard to access.) The light does wonderful things to those columns and vaults; architect was the same one who did the Boathouse (white pavilion near the lake that houses the Audubon center).
I realize that I have never devoted a full post to it on “Prospect: A Year in the Park,” probably because it’s been fenced off. I will get over there soon and do so.
Where was this picture taken? It’s so beautiful! ^_^
Out of the cradle, endlessly rocking.
