  1. too much government regulation…if it wasn’t for that then there would be no tests and no payoffs or corruption.
In freemarket builders would choose best cement contractor.
Because they want to build best product because that is what customer wants.
God bless capitalism and free market and end to government regulation.

I thought that was there little jaunt into Afghanistan. Thankfully we’re too clever a nation to fall into that quagmire.

  3. Re: Company Accused of Faking Concrete Tests at Big Projects [NY Times]

First Testwell @ Yankee. Now Stallone. Where does the fraud end? (Construction fraud far more dangerous than financial.)

    ***Bid half off peak comps***

  4. Also in the past week the NYT has had at least three stories about different asbestos companies being involved in separate forms of fraud, money laundering, etc. Kind of hits you how unbelievably corrupt the building trades (and perhaps by extension development and city government????) in NYC seem to be.

  5. Isn’t that what caused the collapse of the Soviet Union, literally and figuratively?

I’m disappointed there’s no economic news to argue over today. The Financial Times is opining the recovery will be v-shaped.
