  1. denton, I’m as hearty (or dumb) as you and rarely decide not to walk or bike over the bridge to work. Next time I pass someone during a particularly freezing day, I’ll be wondering if it’s you!

  2. Right, eyepenn. The only way to capture a shot with the light like that is in the morning. You can also get that light in the late afternoon but it’s impossible to capture that shot with nobody on the bridge in the afternoon. And of course the Brooklyn side is a bit boring compared to the Manhattan side. Also to get that shot is easiest on a very cold day in the winter, when the sky is bright and the tourists are gone and the natives take the train cuz it’s too cold (except for yours truly).

  3. Gorgeous photo. My first thought was the same as yours, Biff. How the heck did galvarez51 get that shot with no one on the bridge on a beautiful day? I also loved galvarez’s laundrymat.

  4. DOW, good question. Perhaps galvarez51 or someone else can answer. Other than the fact the downtown Manhattan skyline is much more recognizable, perhaps it also has to do with the fact that there are typically many more tourists hanging out by the Manhattan tower along the bridge – presumably not all of them are willing to walk to Brooklyn or even to the center of the bridge – so it could be harder there for the photog to get the picture he/she is seeking. Likely it’s more to do with the skyline explanation.

“It is taking much longer to rent apartments, and instead of renting for higher prices to reflect the increases in the costs of operation, rents are actually declining.”

Good news for those holding out on a purchase. Not only do we low ball home prices, we also low ball leases. Brooklyn rents are still stubbornly high but I predict they will soften, not as significantly as home prices but enough to make renting, saving and waiting, more and more attractive.

  6. Not to sound like a broken record, but this is another fantastic shot. Amazing to get get the picture with nobody else in the shot despite the beautiful day. galvarez51, I wonder how long you waited to capture it.
