We’re always psyched to find new voices covering the goings-on in Brooklyn, so we were pleased to get an email from the editor of a new quarterly magazine called The Brooklynite. What’s the publication all about? “Covering life, culture, and politics in the borough, the magazine provides a lively, independent venue for top-notch journalism on the issues facing Brooklynites of all stripes.” Sounds good to us. The first issue is off to a strong start with serious articles on the new Coney Island and activism in Bushwick as well as reviews of spots to eat and drink. Check it.
About the Mag [The Brooklynite]
David:
You’re missing the point. These rags are for well to do hipster types who relish in the decay and overcrowdedness of Brooklyn. They don’t want Ratner or Thor or anyone else building more housing for the rest of us. They are simply selfish, closeminded fools.
It’s the second issue, and that came out months ago. But it’s good to push a good new mag. This issue is much more substantive than the first. Gauging the editorial from the first, I definitely expected a better second issue.
I have lived in Bushwick for two years and love it. The neighborhoods off of Montrose/Morgan are seemingly a secret..which I suppose is good but it would be nice to get some props. There are more amenities all the time and it has definiteley become much safer since I moved there.
