Crown Heights has had good news in the supermarket department as of late. Fischer Supermarket, on Franklin and Lincoln, has been closed, but it will soon be opening as a new grocery store. Someone on the site said it could be open as early as two weeks. The space has been totally gutted so it seems like we can expect something pretty new and shiny here! GMAP
Nostrand Park recently posted a wonderful update on Fisher’s new supermarket:

that corner pit will only get going once the current owner decides to sell it. It’s a shame that it’s been a hole for so long.
BSD, I actually grew up in L.A. Send me an email!
I spoke with Tony yesterday. He told me it’s going to be an eco friendly establishment (refrigeration, lighting etc.) It’s going to have full glass windows all around and will be open 24 hours. and that sign is going as well. Now if only the corner pit can on EP can be built…
thanks i’ll be sure to check them out.

http://www.ilovefranklinave.blogspot.com is a great local blog!
Also, http://nostrandpark.com often reports on Franklin Ave. happenings.
Sounds like there were a number of changes happening on Franklin…any site that keeps up with that ave.?
Fisher’s Supermarket has been on that corner for something like 30 years. Owner Tony Fisher decided it was time for some badly-needed renovations. Those of us in the neighborhood are looking forward to its reopening!
Wow – and under a new – if somewhat similar – name!
