According to its newsletter that went out yesterday, the Brooklyn Navy Yard continues to be a popular place for small businesses to set up shop. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that commercial rents are a good ten bucks per square foot cheaper than in nearby Dumbo, but the Navy Yard signed seven new leases in the third quarter, bringing the total for the year to 38. New companies include Atair Aerospace, an aerospace engineering research and development company, Bien Hecho, a green businesses that designs and manufactures custom furniture, and William Lipton Gallery, a distributor of custom lamps and art.
